I could do wilderness day hikes as well as urban day touring. Dump the load at your hotel and put it in 26 liter mode. Osprey's specs are correct at 1.848lbs/838g. If I had been more careful about the way I packed, I probably could have fit way more as well. There was honestly more room to be able to pack these things with a little finagling. There is a 9" deep organizer pocket with stretch pockets for a phone, power bank and three pens. The only things missing are an extra bra, nice pair of sandals, a wet bag and a new compact hair dryer I ordered that hasn't come yet. The sleeve is padded and clears the bottom by an inch. You could pull out a liquids pouch packed at the top through the same opening. One thing that I missed in the video is the top access zipper for the laptop sleeve. Grab handles all over the place and a luggage handle pass through too. I tried a one liter Nalgene and it's really tight and over stresses the seams. It has stretch side pockets that will handle a slim Kleen Kanteen or bike bottle. There is a stuff pocket on the front, which I like for stashing a rain or wind shell. The shoulder straps are widely spaced, 2.5" wide at maximum and have perforate dense foam padding. The opening is full clamshell with a mesh divider and the expanding section is in the lid with the mesh divider. I always want compression straps, but they are omitted for this model. I do wish the shoulder straps would tuck away and it should have shoulder strap mounts to go with that. Osprey states the measurements are 17H X 13W X 6" and a simple measurement of the unexpanded side panel is 7" and like more packs it takes on another inch or more when packed full.Įven with that, it's a keeper. I received the new Osprey Daylite Expandable 26+6 backpack today and it meets all the specs except for the depth front to back.
